Becoming a Peery Teacher
There are different levels of becoming a Peery teacher.
BUSINESS SERVICES
The most basic level of becoming a Peery teacher is signing up as a member on www.peeryacademy.com. Peery Academy offers billing services and organizational tools that help teachers run their studios in the most professional way. To become a Peery Academy teacher go to www.peeryacademy.com and click on BECOME A PEERY TEACHER.
The membership/licensing fee on www.peeryacademy.com is $60 per month. But for a limited time in order to allow more teachers to try the Peery system the membership is $2/month.
USING THE PEERY CURRICULUM
We require that teachers using the Peery Curriculum become Certified in the Peery system by successfully demonstrating the skills they will be teaching their students. As such, the first step to becoming a Peery Certified teacher is to receive training and certify in the Peery system as a Peery student. You can do this:

PEERY CERTIFICATION LEVELS
Peery Teacher Level Pre-Certification
- Teacher has successfully completed all 9 Essential Habits Peery Certifications OR has received In Person training of the Habits program.
Upon completion of the final Habits Certification the Teacher will receive a Certificate to hang in their studio. This Certification will have a VISIBLE expiration date of 18 months at which time the Certification will expire and must be replaced with the Level 2 Certification otherwise Peery Habits certification must be completed again.
Peery Teacher Certification Level 1
- Teacher has a minimum of 3 students successfully certify in all 3 categories of Peery Habits Level 1.
All students must be registered and paying tuition on www.peeryacademy.com as a means to verify that the student is taking all lessons from the Teacher and that the Teacher is a current member of Peery Academy.
A Teacher will receive the Peery Certifcation Level 1 Certificate to hang in their studio after their 1st student has completed certification in Peery Habits Level 1. A visible expiration date of 2 years will be on the Certificate at which time the Teacher must complete the Level 2 Teacher Certification.
Peery Teacher Certification Level 2
- Teacher has a minimum of 3 students successfully certify in all 3 categories of Peery Habits Level 2.
All students must be registered and paying tuition on www.peeryacademy.com as a means to verify that the student is taking all lessons from the Teacher and that the Teacher is a current member of Peery Academy.
A Teacher will receive the Peery Certifcation Level 2 Certificate to hang in their studio after their 1st student has completed certification in Peery Habits Level 2. A visible expiration date of 2 years will be on the Certificate at which time the Teacher must complete the Level 3 Teacher Certification.
Peery Teacher Certification Level 3
- Teacher has a minimum of 3 students successfully certify in all 3 categories of Peery Habits Level 3.
All students must be registered and paying tuition on www.peeryacademy.com as a means to verify that the student is taking all lessons from the Teacher and that the Teacher is a current member of Peery Academy.
A Teacher will receive the Peery Certifcation Level 3 Certificate to hang in their studio after their 1st student has completed certification in Peery Habits Level 3.
Peery Master Teacher Certification
The Peery Certification of Master Teacher is given on a case by case basis at the approval of the Peery Certification board which includes at least 1 Peery Master Teacher. Requirements include Peery Teacher Certification in all Peery Levels – Habits and Players, advanced music training (conservatory or advanced college degrees), performance experience, and student achievement in local, national and international venues.
