- PPA Festival (spring semester)
The PPA Festival is our biggest event of the year and includes games, prizes, workshops, performances and awards.

12:00 Welcome/Orientation
12:05 – 12:30 Lunch served
12:05 – 1:15 Carnival booths and Players Presentations
1:30 – 2:30 Awards Ceremony, performances by PPA competition winners and slide show

MUSIC BOOTHS
The PPA festival includes carnival type booths for the Habits students with music activities such as Flashcard dash, Speed practice chart building, Staff Book Relay, Name that Tune, Play your favorite piece and others. Habits students can earn extra PPA tokens at the booths and turn their tokens in for prizes at the PPA festival store or try for the HUGE trophy presented to the student with the most tokens total.

PRESENTATIONS
Players students will present workshops to their parents, friends and invited guests on the skills they have learned in their class throughout the year. Workshop presentations include demonstrations of:
- classical performance
- popular performance
- how to use a fake book
- jazz improvisation
- duets
- technical skills: studies, scales, chords etc

PPA COMPETITION
Competition registration is now CLOSED.
All students also have the opportunity to compete in the PPA Competition. Held the week before the festival, categories of participation include all of the elements covered in the monthly Showcase and Skills classes such as:
- Giver – a Musical piece from the Habits curriculum
- Finder – a student’s own composition
- Maestro – a report on a musical topic
- Sharer – a performance of a popular piece
- Happy Birthday
- Fake Book/Sing Along
- Popular Choice
- Sight Reading
- Classical Choice
- Scales and Arpeggios
- Study/Etude
- New Piece

The winners or each category perform in front of the entire Academy at the beginning of the Awards ceremony after which year end awards are announced and distributed to all PPA students. Awards include:
- Student of the Year
- PPA competition winners
- PPA Festival winner – the Habits student who has turned in the most PPA tokens receives a 4” tall trophy
- Monthly class awards – for the student most prepared throughout the year in each monthly class
- Teacher’s Choice – each teacher awards one student of their choosing to receive a trophy
- Certificates – all PPA students receive a certificate recognizing their achievement and strengths
