Using the Team Music Certification system, the Student of the Year award is given to the student who scored the most points in each of the Team Music music personalities. This event is entirely student driven and encompasses an entire year of study. No teacher prompting or reminding is permitted. Each Student of the Year receives a commemorative trophy and a $100 cash award.

Some of you have expressed that it would be helpful to have a schedule of the Showcase/TM weekly classes. I have added this information to the calendar. If you click on the bar that says “Showcase/TM week” on the calendar, it will open up to a new window. In the description section you will see a schedule of all of the classes and what time they start/end.
If you can’t remember which one you are signed up for, email Missi at info@peerymusic.com .
Occasionally, we receive inquiries about what students are supposed to play for their Showcase and Share assignment because the sheet has been mis-placed or because the student was absent and didn’t get a sheet. Well, your in luck!
A week before the Showcase and Share week, we post the new assignment sheet on the front page of our website at www.peerymusic.com. It is currently placed as the third bullet under the heading ‘Current Students’.
You just need to print and complete the form with all of the information for the pieces that your child has learned but hasn’t passed in his/her musical assignment selection.
If you have any questions, email Missi at info@peerymusic.com .
There is a video lesson explaining and showing how to do the hand over hand exercise in the Peery Habits 2 gallery.
Click on ‘Video Lessons’ in the top right of the blog, then the link to take you to the lessons, then on ‘Habits Level Two’.

Recording of private lessons is permitted when a parent is in attendance and on special occasions (e.g. preparation for a competition).
RH should start on the C above middle and LH should start on the C below middle. Play the exercise on C up and down. Then slide the hand up and play the same exercise starting on D, then E, etc. So each hand should repeat the exercise up to 7 times on different keys each day. The online video labeled Habits Level 1 – Lesson 5 MuscleBuilders ascending demonstrates this.
Form is more important than repetition. It is important that the child be very focused and be sure that all steps are being done correctly. If the child loses focus and cannot complete all of the repetitions this is ok. As the muscular habits become stronger the focus will become easier and all of the repetitions will be able to be completed.
Students should practice Honeybee hands alone until they can do it fluently. Have the goal of being able to play it with the CD. Once this is accomplished they can try putting it hands together in SMALL sections. Just be sure to work in small sections with lots of repetition – even just three notes at a time – to avoid being overwhelmed.
No makeups are provided for student cancellations for any reason. Students should cancel their lessons if they are not fully prepared with every lesson item and spend the time at home practicing. If a student comes unprepared to the lessons they will be dropped from the Mastery program.
Masterclass replaces the weekly private lesson. There are no private lessons held during the week of Masterclass.
