The TM Festival consisted of 2 events this year: Individual and Presentation.  During each event teams could earn points by obtaining the Judge vote and the Audience vote.  All tokens will be awarded at the first Showcase/TM class in September 2009.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!  THANKS TO ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS FOR MAKING THIS YEAR’S TM FESTIVAL A HUGE SUCCESS!!

Using the Team Music Certification system, the Student of the Year award is given to the student who scored the most points in each of the Team Music music personalities.  This event is entirely student driven and encompasses an entire year of study.  No teacher prompting or reminding is permitted.  Each Student of the Year receives a commemorative trophy and a $100 cash award.

Amy traveled to Anaheim recently with the Cupertino Middle School’s Advanced Choir to attend the 2009 Heritage Festival.  Amy received a special award for her accompanying the choir on the piano.  The judges felt that she played the piece with superior musicality and was very in tue with the choir, so she was expecially recognized.

Great job, Amy!

Henry recently won 2nd place in the Thera Rabinowitch competition.

These are some of the comments we have gotten from some of the performances we have posted from the recital on YouTube.

Abe W. – Brilliant technique, wonderful interpretation, great authority.  This young man is a true pianist.

Beth P. – Charming, constrasted interpretation.  Well done…

Kai S. – Nice, skilled performance.  Those repeated notes in the left hand are really tricky…

Jiliane S. – What a charming, sensitive young pianist!!  Jiliane, music runs in your blood and therefore you touch is wonderful…

Luke C. – Congratulations, Luke, for a very musical performance.

Peery Piano Academy’s own HENRY SMOLEN is a semi-finalist in the 2009 KDFC Classical Star Search!

Ten semi-finalists in each category were selected from hundreds of video entries. Three finalists in each category will advance to the finals.
