Dear Friends:

I am very pleased to announce the 2010 Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition, offering performance opportunities and scholarships up to $3,000 for California-resident pianists, instrumentalists, chamber ensembles and vocalists ages 8-18, and introducing the Special Founders Prize for advanced vocal students ages 19-21.

The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis is one of the premier performance venues in California , presenting the world’s major orchestras, chamber ensembles, and soloists, including recent guest artists Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Lang Lang, Yo Yo Ma, and Renee Fleming.

Auditions for the 2010 Young Artists Competition will be held January 9 and 10, 2010 at the Mondavi Center . The application deadline is October 31, 2009.

Keep it up students!

We have recently rearranged the Habits room. Our admin, Amanda, is now located in the front part of the room to allow easy access for parent and student questions and other needs.

Amanda has online access onsite now which gives her immediate access to the PPA calendar, schedule and Habits swap calendar. So feel free to ask for her help on anything you need.

Because Amanda is out front there is not as much room for waiting. There are a few stools that are available, but you are also welcome to sit outside or just drop off and pick up.

Parents who participate in the lessons throughout the hour can continue to be with their student in the lesson portion of the room.

Last night I went to see Aladdin starring Micah from the Peery Piano Acadamy. My favorite part was when Micah came out with a crystal ball and showed her brother where he would find Aladdin. I also liked the costumes because they really showed the difference of the rich and the poor. Over all the play was great and I can’t wait to see the next one.

Summer students will be able to reserve their fall time beginning August 1. If you are currently enrolled in the summer quarter at PPA you will be emailed a link to the reg form on August 1st before 12 noon. Please check your email and spam folder by this time and if you have not received the email with the link please email tskousen@peerymusic.com.

Returning students will receive the email link on August 8.

Enrollment will be posted on our homepage and open to all students on August 15.

We received some great feedback from one of our parents and have implemented her ideas into the swap calendar postings.

To make open spots easier to find please list taken spots as:
In George/Out Frank

By listing the ‘In’ status first you will be able to scroll through the calendar more easily and see clearly the ‘Out’ or ‘Open’ spots that are still available.

Congratulations to Jamie, Luke, and Abe! These students were guest soloists for the Concerts at the Presidio series held at the Presidio in San Francisco. They performed two nights, July 9 and 10 to an audience of over 200 and did a marvelous job.

Just mouse over the ‘Schedules and Roster’ category and all of the above calendars and instructions will appear.
